In our ongoing search for gems in hi-fi, our ears fell on this small speaker from Japan. Small, because not everyone wants to decorate their living room like a hi-fi shop or simply because the listening room cannot tolerate large speakers. Special, handmade in very small numbers by Ryo Aoynanagi in Hikoni, Shiga Japan. The numbers are limited, there is a long queue, but if you are really looking for something special... The Hora Mono is made of birch plywood, a material known for its low weight and formidable acoustic qualities. The only driver in the Mono is a Scanspeak broadbander with a foam suspension (super light). The internal cabling is from Van den Hul, there is no filter component!!, it is purely the shape of the cabinet with the internal labyrinth that makes the sound extremely homogeneous and open. Although the efficiency is low, the Hora Mono is easy to control and you can achieve stunning results with small (tube) amplifiers.
The Mono is easy to place on a piece of furniture, but the specially designed stands are recommended, part of the acoustic concept of the speakers and make listening an almost mystical experience.
